Kowloon City Baptist Church Hay Nien (Yan Ping) Primary School is a government-subsidized full-day primary school located in Sha Tin District, Hong Kong, China. Established in 2006, the school’s mission is to “uphold the Christian spirit, provide comprehensive quality education through holistic care, guide students to know the true God, achieve a well-rounded character, and serve the community.

We are deeply honored to collaborate with Dr. YIP Chee Tim, the school supervisor, to present an innovative spatial design for the school’s Visual Arts classroom. Guided by the design philosophy of ‘a dialogue between tradition and modernity,’ this project interprets the essence of traditional aesthetics through contemporary design language, incorporating cultural motifs such as Chinese pavilions and landscape ink paintings. By seamlessly integrating Oriental aesthetics into modern educational spaces, the design aims to inspire students’ creative thinking through immersive artistic environments while creating a learning domain that balances functionality with a mission of cultural heritage preservation.
